My idea of camping involves an RV. I know all you avid campers are saying "That's not camping." But that is how I was raised and personally I prefer a nice hotel and room service above anything else. The thought of camping with 3 kids, 3 years and younger has really not been on my priority list of things to accomplish. HOWEVER, my mom takes her trailer out at least once a month and Taylor asks me ALL THE TIME if we can have a camp out. So I decided how bad can it be for one night, we can do it, Andy and Ashlyn sleep fine in pack and plays, it will be great. Well, everything was great until it was time to get Andy and Ashlyn to sleep and to try and keep them asleep. I did not calculate into our equation how cold it was going to be so every time they moved, they found themselves on a cold part of their bed which would cause them to wake up, realize they were outside, and then decide it would be more fun to disturb all our fellow campers than go back to sleep. All I wanted was for the sun to rise so we could go home. At 4:30 AM, Ashlyn woke up AGAIN and decided it was time to play. She woke up Taylor and then Andy and I told Tyler, "We are out of here!" So we packed up and headed home and immediately upon arrival fell soundly asleep in our own beds.
Ashlyn, the little stink, slept until 2:30!!!
We went to Big Bear and Taylor got car sick for the 1st time on the way up. It was so sad. We had to stop and let her out to get some fresh air. After we convinced her to get back in the car, she kept saying, "Daddy drive slower!"
Our tent.
Is she not the cutest little camper you ever did see?
Andy's favorite part was hammering in the stakes.
Russ and Trisha were there which is always a treat.

Taylor was SO in her element. She LOVED every second of her camping experience. My mom was nice enough to wake up before we left and make her breakfast so that her camp out was complete.

Taylor and her smores. She made one for everyone and wanted to continue to make them even though we were all smored out.

Another attempt at a family picture.

Next time (yes I did say next time, I'm crazy), Andy and Ashlyn will sleep in the trailer. I will probably join them and leave my 2 campers (T&T) outside.

Sounds crazy, I agree. I love that my sweetheart loves camping, and whenever, (rarely) we did camp...he did everything!!
It's about time you post the results of the camp out. Ps I want that picture of Russ, Taylor, and I
I am all about the RV! :)
That sounds exactly like our camping experience this summer! Camping with kiddos is hit-or-miss. Last year, we went camping for 2 nights and the kids did great! I think an RV would be wonderful!
We camp every year with our family for 2 weeks. I agree with you that a trailor or RV is the way to go, but we don't have the hook ups like you do. This year we had quite the time with Hudson waking up early- just like your story. I'm happy to be home :).
Also, wanted to comment at how good Tyler looks- has he lost some serious weight?
Wow. All I can say is you are brave. My kids can't camp until they're like, 7.
The best part of the trip was watching Taylor! I told Taylor.. "Grandma's favorite thing to do is go camping".. Taylor says 'it's my favorite thing too"
