Normally I take the kids SOMEWHERE in the mornings...pool, museum, library, mall, lately the doctor's office has been on the list. They need to get out of the house and SO DO I. Ashlyn has been sick for a few days now which means non stop fussy whining, wanting to be held driving mom crazy behavior. So I thought we should have a low key day at home and I set up a little painting party in the backyard. I plead temporary insanity for thinking they would actually keep the paint on the paper and plastic I laid out for them.
It is much more fun to try to paint mom.
Oh and if you are wondering about Ashlyn's bangs, I REALLY REALLY wish I could blame the recent hair cut on her or Taylor finding unattended scissors but unfortunately Ashlyn was really wiggly while I tried to trim her bangs and this is what resulted. I am horribly bummed and mad at myself but I remind myself EVERY time I look at her cute face that they will grow back (anyone know how to make hair grow faster?) and they don't look too bad if I hairspray them to the side. Even though I have successfully cut her hair and Andy's in the past, Tyler has forbidden me to ever pick up the scissors again =)
Onto today's mess.
Onto today's mess. I left the room for literally 5 minutes and I returned to this. The guilty party is on the left. It took me forever to clean this up because vacuuming doesn't work and I had to get on my knees and use a vacuum tool. It didn't help that my kids thought it would be fun to squish the Cheerios. Where's a dog when you need one?

And these 2 instances are why I try to leave the house everyday.

Randy and I were just commenting last night that we need a dog to clean up the scraps that Josh throws on the floor during meals. Most days, I wish I can just stay home and get things done while the kids play with toys, but nope, we have to get out of the house as well. They get destructive when they're bored.
I feel you on ALL of this!!!
OK, sorry, but I had a good laugh at this post...I miss those days of constant guess whats?, even though I didn't always enjoy them when I was living them.
There is a reason we have a dog. And he is very good at what he does. Very funny. And I love the bangs. I do not feel us mothers need to pay $20 bucks for a childs hair cut...so I also do it myself. It's a challenge..and yes...hair does grow back. Try prenatal vitamins. LOL jk.
Ah, the cereal in the carpet. I know it well. Austin used to do that when he was two. I know how frustrating it is to have the house get so messy so fast. Even with older kids!
